FAQs

Is the Merrill suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The Merrill carries an IP44 rating, which means it is protected against splashing water from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered outdoor ceiling locations — such as a porch, loggia, or sheltered entrance — where it will not be exposed to direct rainfall but will encounter moisture and humidity.

What finishes are available?
The Merrill is available in two finishes: Heritage Bronze and Black. Both use the same geometric frame and cream-etched glass, so the choice comes down to how each finish coordinates with your exterior joinery, door furniture, and surrounding metalwork.

What does the cream-etched glass do?
The cream-etched glass acts as a diffuser — it scatters the light from the internal source evenly across the fitting, eliminating hotspots and reducing glare. This produces a softer, more comfortable light quality that works well in entrance and terrace settings where you want atmosphere rather than a harsh point source.

Are lamps included with the Merrill?
Lamp inclusion should be confirmed at the point of order. Contact Lightsource Mallorca to verify what light source is supplied or recommended, and to check compatibility with any dimming system you are specifying.

What guarantee does the Merrill carry?
Elstead offers product guarantees that vary by model. The Merrill is backed by an Elstead guarantee — confirm the specific term applicable to this fitting with Lightsource Mallorca at the time of specification.
