What does IP44 mean and is it suitable for my outdoor wall position?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. It is appropriate for most covered or semi-exposed exterior wall positions, such as beside a front door or under a porch overhang. If the fitting would be fully exposed to driving rain with no overhead shelter, you may want to consider an IP65-rated alternative.

Is a lamp included with the Mathus wall lantern?
No, the lamp is not included. The Mathus accepts a single E27 lamp — the standard large Edison screw fitting. Elstead recommend the Litec E27 A60 clear lamp (8W, 800lm, 3000K) as a dimmable option, which suits the clear glass design well.

Can I use a dimmable bulb with the Mathus?
Yes, the Mathus is compatible with dimmable E27 lamps. To achieve reliable dimming, you will need both a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer switch in the circuit. Not all dimmers work with all LED lamps, so confirm compatibility between your chosen lamp and dimmer before finalising the specification.

What sizes is the Mathus available in?
The Mathus outdoor wall lantern is available in two sizes: Small and Medium. Both share the same tapered lantern design, textured black aluminium construction, and IP44 rating.
