FAQs

Is the Canterbury lantern suitable for outdoor use in Mallorca's climate?
Yes — it is constructed from die-cast aluminium and carries a 5-year anti-corrosion warranty, making it well suited to humid and coastal environments. Its IP43 rating (protected against angled water spray) means it should be installed in a sheltered position such as a covered porch or loggia ceiling, not in a location exposed to direct rainfall.

What does IP43 mean and where can this fitting be installed?
IP43 means the fitting is protected against solid particles larger than 1mm and against water sprayed at an angle up to 60° from vertical. In practical terms, install it in a covered or sheltered exterior ceiling position — a porch, loggia, or covered terrace — rather than a fully exposed outdoor location.

What lamp type does the Canterbury lantern take?
Elstead's Canterbury range is typically designed for standard E27 screw-cap lamps, giving you flexibility to choose your preferred light source, including dimmable LED options. Confirm the specific lamp base and wattage limit with us at point of specification to ensure the right fit.

Is the lantern supplied with a bulb?
Lamp inclusion is not confirmed for this product. We recommend checking at point of order — and we're happy to advise on a compatible E27 LED lamp that suits the warmth and ambience you're looking for.

Can the Canterbury lantern be used with a dimmer?
Dimming compatibility depends on the lamp you choose rather than the fitting itself. If dimming is important to your project, select a dimmable LED lamp and pair it with a compatible phase dimmer. Get in touch and we'll help you match the right lamp and dimmer combination.
