What IP rating does the Porter lantern have, and where can it be installed?
The Porter is rated IP44, meaning it's protected against water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for covered or sheltered exterior walls — porches, recessed entrances, and protected façades — but not positions fully exposed to driving rain.

Is the Porter covered by a corrosion warranty, and does it apply in coastal locations?
Yes — Quintiesse supplies the Porter with a 3-year anti-corrosion warranty. However, this warranty excludes locations within 5 miles of the coastline. If your project is in or near a coastal area, we'd recommend discussing a fitting specifically rated for salt-air environments.

What bulb does the Porter take, and is one included?
The Porter takes a single E27 lamp — the standard large screw-cap fitting — up to 60W, or an LED equivalent. No bulb is included. A tubular filament-style LED is strongly recommended, as the lamp is fully visible through the clear glass panels and forms part of the design.

Can the Porter be used with a dimmer switch?
Yes. The Porter is compatible with dimmable lamps. To use dimming, you'll need a dimmable E27 LED bulb and a compatible dimmer switch on the circuit. Standard non-dimmable LEDs will not dim reliably even on a dimmer circuit, so specifying a dimmable lamp matters here.

Does the Porter require a separate driver or transformer?
No. This is a direct-mains lamped fitting — it runs from standard mains voltage via the E27 lamp socket. No external driver or transformer is needed, which simplifies installation considerably.
