FAQs

What does the IP44 rating mean for installation position?
IP44 means the lantern is protected against solid particles larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. It is suitable for covered or semi-exposed exterior wall positions — for example, under a porch canopy or on a sheltered garden wall — but is not rated for direct, sustained exposure to heavy rain or submersion.

How does the dual-layer glass work?
The Shepherd uses a clear seeded outer glass and an inner Case White cylindrical glass shade. The outer glass adds a textured, period-authentic appearance, while the inner white glass diffuses the light source so there is no visible hot-spot or bare bulb glare — just a soft, even glow.

Which size should I choose?
The Shepherd collection is available in Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. The right size depends on wall height, architectural scale, and whether you are lighting a gate pillar, entrance porch, or garden façade. Our team can advise on proportional fit if you share your project drawings or photographs.

Is a lamp included, and what type is required?
Lamps are not included with the Shepherd. Lamp type and compatibility should be confirmed at point of specification. Contact our team and we can advise on the correct source, wattage, and any dimming options suitable for your control setup.

What is the warranty on the Shepherd collection?
Elstead backs the Shepherd outdoor wall lantern with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty, reflecting the quality of the weather-resistant composite construction and Elstead's long-standing reputation in exterior lighting.
