FAQs

Is the Elstead Bowtie wall light safe to use in a bathroom?
Yes. The Bowtie carries an IP44 rating, which means it is protected against water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for Zone 2 bathroom installation — including above-mirror positions.

What does IP44 mean and where can I install this fitting?
IP44 is an Ingress Protection rating. The first digit (4) means it is protected against solid particles over 1mm; the second digit (4) means it is protected against water splash from any direction. In a bathroom, this makes it safe for Zone 2 — areas outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure, including above-mirror vanity positions.

Does the Bowtie wall light come with bulbs included?
Bulbs are not confirmed as included. Please contact us before ordering and we will confirm compatible lamp types and recommended wattage for this fitting.

Can I use other Bowtie fittings to create a coordinated bathroom scheme?
Yes. The Bowtie is part of a small coordinated family that includes matching wall lights and a flush ceiling fitting, making it straightforward to specify a consistent look throughout a bathroom.

What is the finish and material of the Bowtie wall light?
The fitting is constructed from steel with a matte black finish and features opal white glass shades. The matte black provides a clean, high-contrast look that works well alongside light tiles, stone, and concrete surfaces.
