FAQs

What does IP44 mean and where can I install this light in a bathroom?
IP44 means the fitting is protected against particles over 1mm and water splashed from any direction. This makes it suitable for bathroom zones outside the immediate shower or bath enclosure — including above or beside a mirror. Installation must comply with current wiring regulations and should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Is this a good choice for above-mirror vanity lighting?
Yes. The Bowtie is specifically designed as a vanity fixture. Its two lamp heads are oriented downward to direct light onto the face and mirror area, and the horizontal, symmetrical layout spreads light evenly — avoiding the single-source shadows that make mirror use difficult.

Does the frosted glass reduce glare?
It does. The frosted glass shades diffuse the light source, producing a soft, even glow rather than a harsh point of light. This is particularly important in a mirror setting, where direct glare can be uncomfortable and counterproductive.

What is the warranty on this fitting?
The Elstead Bowtie carries a standard 2-year manufacturer's warranty.

Are lamps included with this fitting?
