FAQs

What is the copper foil method used in the Asheville shade?
The copper foil method was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and involves wrapping individual pieces of glass in thin copper foil tape, then soldering them together. This produces finer, more precise leading lines than traditional leaded glass — and is what gives authentic Tiffany-style shades their characteristic crispness and detail.

Are lamps included with the Asheville ceiling light?
No, lamps are not included. The fixture accepts two bulbs — we recommend warm white sources around 2700K to complement the amber and cream tones of the art glass shade. Check the fitting's maximum wattage before selecting your bulbs.

Is the Asheville suitable for a bathroom or outdoor use?
No. The Asheville is rated IP20, which means it is suitable for dry indoor locations only — bedrooms, living rooms, hallways, and dining rooms are all ideal. It should not be installed in bathrooms, shower rooms, or any outdoor setting.

What finish is the Asheville available in?
The Asheville Semi-Flush is finished in Valiant Bronze — a deep, warm-toned dark bronze that complements the traditional styling of the copper foil art glass shade.

What ceiling installation does the Asheville require?
The Asheville mounts via a square ceiling canopy directly onto a standard ceiling electrical box. A short stem connects the canopy to the shade, giving a semi-flush profile that sits close to the ceiling while maintaining visual depth. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
