visual-comfort-madden-13-fluted-linear-sconce
Visual Comfort Madden Fluted Linear Sconce

Choosing a decorative wall light is rarely just about aesthetics. With natural stone fittings in particular, there are real questions to settle before you commit: how does it mount, what lamp does it take, and will the stone actually glow the way it looks in the photograph? Getting this wrong is expensive and disheartening.

For a fitting like this, the key decision factors are material authenticity, light transmission, and mounting practicality. Alabaster is a translucent natural stone — meaning light passes through it, revealing the material's natural veining and the depth of the fluting rather than simply bouncing off a surface. Because it is a natural material, subtle variation in tone and texture between pieces is entirely normal and, frankly, part of the appeal.

The Visual Comfort Madden Fluted Linear Sconce is a decorative wall light designed by Chapman & Myers for the Visual Comfort Signature Collection — a range produced in close collaboration with leading design voices and defined by premium natural materials and hand-applied finishes. The Madden takes a tall, slim cylindrical form with deep, evenly spaced vertical fluting running the full length of the alabaster shade. Brass hardware at the top and bottom completes the fitting with restraint. IP22 rated, it is suitable for general interior environments where limited protection against drip ingress is required — appropriate for most living spaces, though not wet-zone bathrooms.

The design is deliberately spare: no visible arm, no traditional backplate silhouette — just stone and light. The vertical profile suits hallways, bedroom flanking positions, mirror surrounds, and living room accent walls where a slim, architectural form is preferred over a wider decorative bracket. Please note that this fitting requires a smaller-than-standard outlet box; this is worth confirming with your installer before works are booked.

This is a 120V configuration product, designed for the North American electrical standard. Installation in Spain will require a suitable transformer or voltage converter; please discuss this with us before specifying. Alabaster is a natural stone — variation in colour and texture between units is expected and characteristic of the material, not a defect. Lamp type and driver requirements should be confirmed at point of order.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we exist to make decisions like this straightforward. Selecting a natural stone fitting from a premium collection is a considered investment, and we're here to make sure the specification is right before anything is ordered — correct voltage configuration, mounting compatibility, and lead-time clarity included. That's value engineering in practice, not just a phrase.
