sikrea-mikado-a-wall-light
Sikrea Mikado Decorative Wall Light

Decorative wall lights often look perfect in a mood board and awkward on the wall. The challenge is finding a piece that holds its sculptural character at real scale, in a real room — without becoming the wrong kind of statement. The Sikrea Mikado is designed to do exactly that.

For decorative wall lights, the most important decisions are usually about diffusion and silhouette. Frosted or opal shades scatter light softly across a surface, reducing glare and creating ambient warmth rather than harsh pools of illumination. The Mikado uses two differently shaped shades — a globe and a cone — positioned asymmetrically on a horizontal rod, so the light it produces is varied and considered, not flat.

The Sikrea Mikado Decorative Wall Light is a hardwired, wall-mounted fixture from Sikrea's Mikado collection. It features a brushed brass circular backplate, a matte black cylindrical rod, and two frosted glass shades: an upward-facing opal sphere and a downward-facing cone. The three-tone palette of warm brass, matte black, and translucent white gives it a modern, sculptural character that works equally well in residential and boutique commercial interiors. It carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for dry interior spaces.

The design is rooted in geometric simplicity — circles, cylinders, spheres, and cones brought together with enough material contrast to feel sophisticated rather than austere. The asymmetrical positioning of the two light sources creates balanced visual weight through contrasting form and direction, making it as interesting unlit as it is when glowing.

The Mikado is designed for hardwired installation into a standard wall back box — no visible external wiring. As with most decorative wall lights at this level, lamp and driver requirements should be confirmed at point of specification. IP20 rating confirms suitability for interior dry zones only; it is not appropriate for bathroom wet zones or outdoor use.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with products like the Mikado because they earn their place in a scheme on both aesthetic and practical grounds. We help you confirm compatibility, coordinate lead times, and make sure what arrives on site matches what was specified — so the installation goes as well as the design intended.
