elstead-tournai-small-wall-lantern
Elstead Tournai Outdoor Wall Lantern

Choosing an outdoor wall light for a traditional or heritage-style property isn't just about finding something that looks right — it's about finding something that holds up. The wrong finish fades, the wrong construction lets moisture in, and the wrong scale overwhelms or disappears against the wall. Getting it right matters, especially when it's the first thing guests see.

For exterior lanterns, two things tend to trip people up: weatherproofing and proportion. IP44 is the standard rating here — it means the fitting is protected against solid objects over 1mm and water splashing from any direction, which covers most sheltered exterior positions such as porches, entrance canopies, and covered perimeter walls. If the lantern is fully exposed to driving rain, you'd want IP65 or above — worth discussing with us before you specify.

The Elstead Tournai Outdoor Wall Lantern is a single-light exterior wall lantern from Elstead's Tournai range. It's built from heavy cast metal with a multi-tiered ornate roof, scrolled arm, and a decorative backplate with fleur-de-lis detail — the kind of construction that reads as genuinely architectural rather than decorative afterthought. Clear seeded glass panels enclose the light source, diffusing the output softly and adding a warm vintage quality to the ambience without sacrificing useful illumination at the entrance.

The finish is Londonderry — a dark, weathered bronze tone with hand-rubbed lighter highlights that draw out the texture of the cast metalwork. Leaf motifs, scrolling elements, and raised geometric patterning give it a gothic-inspired silhouette that suits period architecture, Mediterranean stone facades, and heritage-influenced new builds equally well. This is a fixed-finish product with no variant options listed.

The Tournai carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for sheltered exterior positions such as porches, recessed entrances, and covered outdoor seating areas. Lamp type and included components are not confirmed in the current data — please contact us to confirm lamping, bulb base type, and maximum wattage before purchasing, particularly if you're planning to use a dimmer circuit. Elstead products typically carry a warranty of 2 to 20 years depending on the specific model, so it's worth confirming coverage for this fitting at point of order.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with architects, interior designers, and self-builders to make sure specification decisions hold up in the real world — not just on a mood board. The Elstead Tournai is the kind of fitting we'd recommend when the brief calls for genuine traditional character with the build quality to match. We're here to help confirm lamping, check zone suitability for your project, and coordinate delivery so it arrives when you need it.
