elstead-carisbrooke-2-light-wall-light-in-black
Elstead Carisbrooke Decorative Wall Light

Decorative wall lighting lives or dies on detail — and when a fitting is meant to be a focal point, the wrong choice can flatten an entire room scheme. Gothic and heritage interior styles in particular demand authenticity: a casting that looks mass-produced, or wire work that lacks refinement, undermines the atmosphere you're working hard to create.

For this kind of application, the quality of the hand work matters as much as the silhouette. Candelabra-style wall sconces distribute ambient light gently and diffusely, relying on flame-shaped candle bulbs and open metalwork to cast warmth across a wall surface. The fixture itself becomes part of the light source — its form visible and intentional, not hidden behind a shade.

The Elstead Carisbrooke Decorative Wall Light is a two-light candelabra wall sconce hand-crafted in England. Part of Elstead's Carisbrooke range, the fitting features a dark metal frame with a central circular backplate adorned with a raised multi-petalled rosette medallion. Two arms curve outward and upward to support individual candle sockets, each fitted with ivory-coloured candle tubes and bobeche-style drip pans. The defining detail is the intricate hand-bound wire drapery — layered in sweeping scalloped arcs between the central rod and the arms — creating a webbed, textile-like effect that is entirely hand-assembled. A vertical stem above the backplate concludes in a large open ring finial, adding height and presence to the symmetrical composition.

The Carisbrooke range carries a confident Gothic candelabra aesthetic with a medieval-inspired silhouette. The open wire frame allows light to distribute freely while the metalwork remains fully visible as a decorative element. The construction is metal throughout, finished in a dark textured tone that anchors the piece in heritage and period-influenced interiors.

The fixture accommodates two candle-style bulbs (flame-shaped bulbs are the natural choice for this aesthetic) and is designed for direct wall surface mounting via the central backplate. As a lamped fitting, bulb choice is left to you — allowing control over colour temperature and warmth to suit the space. No driver or transformer is required. Elstead Carisbrooke carries a standard two-year product warranty.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we work with hand-crafted and specification-grade products like the Carisbrooke because they solve a real problem: closing the gap between design intent and finished result. We can advise on placement, bulb selection, and how this fitting sits within a broader lighting scheme — making sure your specification is coherent, deliverable, and right for the project from the outset.
