elstead-bayview-1-light-medium-chain-lantern-in-black
Elstead Bayview Outdoor Chain Lantern

Choosing an exterior lantern that holds its own architecturally — without clashing with a contemporary façade or looking out of place on a traditional one — is harder than it sounds. The wrong choice becomes very visible, very quickly.

For covered outdoor spaces such as porches, entrance canopies, and sheltered patios, the key specification criteria are weather protection and visual weight. IP44 is the minimum rating for areas shielded from direct rain — it means the fitting is protected against water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for semi-exposed overhangs but not open or fully exposed positions. Matching that to a lantern with genuine architectural presence is where most projects stall.

The Elstead Bayview Outdoor Chain Lantern answers both. Part of Elstead's Bayview range, it draws on classical Georgian proportions — a four-sided tapered body, stepped roof structure, and decorative loop hook — executed in die-cast aluminium with a clean matte black finish. Clear bevelled glass panels line each face, refracting light gently and ensuring strong ambient output from a single internal lamp. The result reads as traditional in character, but the monochromatic finish keeps it equally at home on a modern exterior.

The Bayview hangs from a metal link chain connected to a flat circular ceiling canopy, with adjustable hanging height to suit different soffit depths. The all-black finish runs consistently across frame, chain, and canopy for a resolved, considered look. No finish variants are listed — this is a single, deliberate design statement.

The lantern is lamped via a single internal socket — lamp not included, allowing you to choose your preferred bulb type and colour temperature. IP44 rating makes it appropriate for Zone 3 outdoor areas (covered, not directly exposed to rain). It is not suitable for fully open or coastal positions without additional protection considerations. Elstead backs the fitting with a 3-year general warranty.

At Lightsource Mallorca, we help you move from inspiration to installed without the guesswork. The Bayview is a confident specification choice for entrance lighting on villas, holiday lets, and residential projects — and we can support you with lamp selection, hanging height advice, and project coordination to keep your timeline on track.
